In the shadow of St. Marys Church, somewhat removed from the street, is the Chancellery House where, following comprehensive renovation, the Torgau City Museum will be located in the future.
During the Reformation period, this building accommodated the central administration offices of the Ernestine electorate of Saxony. Several elements of the historical interior survived the centuries, for example a small room with a stellar vault that presumably served first as a chapel, later as a file archive.
For the duration of the Second Saxon State Exhibition, this municipal museum building will house Section III of the show.
