A Bicycle Tour along the River Elbe
Wittenberg, Torgau,
Meissen and Dresden
an 8-day trip

A bicycle tour that takes you through the history of Saxony with a stop at the Second Saxon State Exhibition in Torgau.
The journey departs from the Luther town of Wittenberg. By way of Torgau and Meissen, we will make our way along the Elbe bicycle path to the Saxon capital, Dresden.
The essentially flat route of approximately 175 kilometres combines historical towns with scenic meadowlands and Saxon vineyards.

Day after pleasurable day: Your itinerary

Day 1:
Following your individual arrival in the Luther town of Wittenberg, we will welcome you at your hotel with a refreshing drink: a local specialty. Night 1: Luther Town Wittenberg

Day 2:
On a public guided tour of Wittenberg you will retrace the steps of the reformer Martin Luther. Once you have acquainted yourself with the city on foot, you can take the afternoon to explore its attractive surroundings by bicycle. Night 2: Luther Town Wittenberg

Day 3:
After breakfast in Wittenberg you will set out for Torgau on your bicycles. The Elbe bike path winds its way through the scenic landscape of the Dübener Heide Nature Park directly along the banks of the river, while a view of the Renaissance Hartenfels Palace in the distance lures you along towards your destination. You will reach the former electoral residence after a ride of some 67 kilometres. Night 3: Torgau

Day 4:
A professional guided tour of the Second Saxon State Exhibition will take you back to the Reformation once again. Hartenfels Palace, the Palace Chapel and the Chancellery House are exhibition spaces and exhibition objects in one. Night 4: Torgau

Day 5:
Having rested from the physical exertions of Day 3 during your cultural immersion in Torgau, you will now cycle on to Meissen. The distance from Torgau is approximately 78 kilometres. Night 5: Meissen

Day 6:
Once you have explored Meissen, your tour on wheels will take you on to the Baroque city of Dresden. The Dresden-City-Card is your admission ticket to the many museums of the State Art Collections — the Old Masters Painting Gallery, for example, or the Green Vault. Or you can take a guided coach tour of the town to obtain an overview of this “Florence on the Elbe.” Night 6: Dresden

Day 7:
Since a single day simply does not suffice for Dresden, we recommend that you take in the city’s many remaining sights — all accessible with the Dresden-City-Card — and explore the lovely surrounding countryside. Night 7: Dresden

Day 8:
