During the Reformation period, the administrative centre of Ernestine Saxony was located in the Chancellery House at No. 5 Wintergrüne, just a few metres from Hartenfels Palace. Following comprehensive renovation, the electoral chancellery now shines in new splendour. In the future it will accommodate the Torgau City Museum.
Major elements of the original interior have survived, for example a small room with a stellar vault which presumably served initially as a chapel and later as a file archive.
For the purposes of the Second Saxon State Exhibition, the municipal museum building will house the third and final section of the presentation. The highlights of this presentation will include a model of the town, conveying to exposition visitors a realistic image of the electoral residency.
